Mark has dedicated his marathon run to those who have beaten cancer, are fighting against it, lost the battle, and the families and friends of those who have been touched by the disease.
Tell us your story or leave us the name of someone you’d like Mark to run for. That name will be added to the list of all those he has dedicated this run to. And while you’re here, leave some words of encouragement for Mark, for Camels with a Cause, and for all those who could use a little boost.
What Others Have Said...
Enclosed you will find a check in memory of your dad. He was a great guy and we all miss him so much.
I am a survivor of non-Hodgkins lymphoma myself, so I am very appreciative in another way of your hard work and dedication to this cause. On behalf of cancer survivors and their families, thank you very much.
I know you will do great and make your mom and dad proud.
Kathy B
I'd like to add Patricia Howell's name to your list...she is my wife, Sharon's, mother and she was a big runner and long distance bicycle racer. She passed in 1995 of liver cancer at the age of 59. She didn't get to see a single one of her 10 grandchildren. We miss her very much. Thanks for doing this!
Mark T
I think what you are doing is great! Please add my dad, Kent McIntyre to your memory list. He pass from colon cancer before he could ever see his grandchildren. I appreciate you allowing people to add love ones names to your cause.
Run strong and may the wind be at your back.

It's a wonderful journey for you! Please add my husband, David Viens to your 'in support of' list. We have been a part of the Team in Training since 2003, when he was first diagnosed with CLL and I signed up to speed walk the marathon in Nashville, TN.
Since then he has been in remission and now his CLL is active again and he is going thru chemo AGAIN and it is kicking his butt. In 2005,'06 I walked the 1/2 marathon and in 2007 David walked the 1/2 with his brother from CT.
This year David signed on again to join the team as the walking coach because he was feeling very fit and prepared to help others who wanted to join but were unsure of the intense level of training. He was able to support and encourage folks who were seeking to improve their own level of fitness while at the same time supporting a very worthwhile cause.
Unfortunately the chemo treatments have been so hard on his body that he has been unable to continue his coaching and his own fitness regimen. He feels very sad about this and feels he has let people down.
Please add him to your list so that he will know that as a Team we all support him. We will try to be in Nashville for the marathon and will cheer you on! You will love this marathon, getting tons of support from people you don't know as you support those you don't know. It's a big circle! The way it's meant to be!
Thank you and God Bless You!!!

On June 28, 2007 I lost my father, Ronald E. Neely Sr. He was only 72 and 14 days shy of 73. He had throat cancer. He beat the cancer but developed MRSA pnumonia. He just didn't have the strength to fight it off. I miss him so much. My mother is struggling because they had been married 46 years. I wish you the best in your run. God Bless you for that. To those still fighting, keep fighting no matter how hard it gets. The world needs you.

Thanks for doing this. I too lost my father, Robert, to cancer on Oct. 2003. I miss him each day. Please add him to your thoughts as you run. A dedication has been made in his honor. You go Mark! I am proud of you, as I am sure your father is too.

My father, Doug, passed away on September 11th, 2007 of lung cancer. He, too, spent 60 wonderful years on Earth. I would love it if this race could be run in his memory as well. Way to go!

My grandfather, Herbert, had leukemia and died three years ago. Being an ex marine, he fought the battle with a tremendous amount of strength and integrity. He even waited until his last grandchild was able to come and see him before he passed. Watching him take his last breath was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do and I hope that causes like yours will help others not have to go through the same. Keep up the good work.
Mark E
Would you please add Jon B to your list? He was a good friend to a lot of people and passed away at age 13 from Leukemia. Wes (who works with you) also went to school with him and will remember the heartache his passing caused. Thank you for the inspiration.

Good Luck and God Bless. Brian passed away 2 years ago. He was 33. I miss you good buddy.

My mom, Alberta, died of ovarian cancer in 2000 after a courageous 2 year battle. I thank you for running to raise money for cancer research and awareness. Your story is so very touching.

Your story touched my heart as I too lost my Dad on April 2, 2007 to lung cancer. He was only 62 years old & full of life. I was so proud of how brave he was while he fought the cancer. He never gave up even though it was a constant uphill battle.
What you are doing is a selfless act of kindness that I'm sure your Father is extremely proud of. Hopefully our Dad's have met in heaven & are enjoying each other's company - over a cold one!
I fully support your cause - you are an inspiration to everyone who has lost a loved one to cancer.
Stephanie H

We lost Dad to lung cancer December 10, 2005 and there is not a day that goes by that we don't think of him and miss him dearly. I commend you on your efforts in finding a cure!
